This is a straight forward and complete guide on how to install an Exchange Server in Citirix Metaframe Server version 4.5
Step 1: Run the Exchange 2003 setup program either from the Exchange CD or from the software share
Note: on software share server (xxx stands for server name) \\XXX\Software\Exchange\New Folder\SETUP\I386
2: If you are prompted about a compatibility issue, click Continue
3: Once the installation wizard appears click Next
4: On the Licensing agreement confirmation, tick “I accept” and click Next
The Component Selection requires you to choose the components to be installed. This how to only refers to the installation of the Exchange 2003 Admin tools therefore you should do the following:
5: On the Action column for Microsoft Exchange, select Custom from the drop-down list.
6: Under Microsoft Exchange System Management Tools select Install from the drop-down list.
7: Make sure the Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Administrator is not selected as we only require the Exchange 2003 tools. The selection should look as below:
8: Once you’ve confirmed you have the correct options, click Next to proceed.
9: The Installation Summary confirms the component to be installed and it should only include Microsoft Exchange System Management Tools. Click Next to proceed
10: Once the component installation process completes click Finish
The install will include the Exchange version of Active Directory User and Computers and also Exchange System Manager.
The default location for these are:
Start Menu->Programs->Microsoft Exchange->System Manager
Start Menu->Programs->Microsoft Exchange-> Active Directory Users and Computers
To allow Citrix users to access the consoles, they should be moved to the re-directed start menu folders. (on Server Citrix C:\CTXProfile\user Start Menu)
Depending on which users will run the consoles and what level of permissions they require to run them, you may need to update the shortcuts to use runas.
This will allow the user to specify their Admin account. An example of the new shortcut is:
